We have been making playdough in Little Streams. The children had to mix flour with salt and add coloured water, the hardest part was kneading the dough, the children had to work hard to get it just right but as you can they did a good job!
Mrs Hammonds visited the Seaside and collected some items so we could create our very own beach in Little Streams. First we needed to clean the shells, seaweed, pebbles and sea sponge before we could put them in our big sandpit. The children enjoyed sorting the shells out, looking at the different markings as well as the funny texture of the seaweed and sponges. We can’t wait until the sand is a bit drier so we can sit in the beach!
Some special visitors came to see us in Little Streams. Miss Chelsea needed some help to bath her baby Jaxson. The children were happy to help and they did a great job. Luckily we had practiced a few days early, the dolls had decided to play in the mud when we weren’t looking so we had to get them nice and clean again! Jaxson was a good baby throughout the day, his mother Miss Chelsea told us he enjoys having a bath bath and he particularly enjoyed his bath at Little Streams.
Fudge came to visit us in Little Streams this week. Fudge belongs to Mrs Hammonds, she is a 5 year old Puggle. The children had a great time feeding and providing fudge with water. We took Fudge for a walk on the big field, the children out ran Fudge, as you can see the children really enjoyed Fudge visiting and can’t wait for her to visit again! Fudge enjoyed it too, she snuggled into her bed when she got home for hours dreaming of her visit!
We have been enjoying the frosty and icy weather in Little Streams this week. We decided to go into the forest and collect items that we could freeze so we could look at different ways to get the objects out of the ice. We talked about how to freeze things, the children knew we needed water and somewhere cold in order that water can freeze. The children collected some interesting items to freeze including snail shells, flowers and leaves. We will be looking at our frozen items next week so keep checking our blog to see our frozen finds! The children enjoyed the forest and looking at the changes that have occurred during winter, some of the children were using words such as taller, shorter, longer, thinner, heavy, some of the children were even trying to lift the trees out of the ground!
This week the children have been given a challenge to make an igloo and a mud hut. Mr Hickman gave Little Streams some photo’s which he had taken over the weekend. The photo’s showed Spider-Man had visited different places around the world, he had visited our school, Egypt, Africa, a house in Blakenall, Alaska and even Buckingham Palace. The children had a great time making an igloo for their little person as well as a mud hut. The Little Streams children thought that the Queen wouldn’t be happy if she knew Spider-Man had been sitting on her roof! Well done to Mr Hickman who we think is a super Peter Parker managing to take the photos of Spider-Man.
Our reception and year 1 children have been looking healthy eating in Little Streams. The children had to look through different magazines and choose items which they thought were healthy. There was lots of gluing and sticking going on as the children cut out many different foods to make their perfect healthy meal, we even had an unhealthy bin where the unhealthy foods were put into. The children worked really hard on this activity and made some super meals!
